 It has allowed for more fires and the wind has fanned those fires, turning them into hundreds, if not thousands of acres.

 In this case, we have dead timber that is degrading as it sits on the stump. A big effort is under way to access as much as can be handled by the system while at the same time, plant trees on the cutover lands to ensure that the new crop is established.

 We do have a lot of limbs hanging on trees, a lot of trees lodged or against other trees that haven't fallen. A storm like this could cause them to fall, which could cause some major problems.

 It's ideal for someone who wants to plant trees for a wind break or to create some wildlife habitat. If you have an acre of land, you can plant up to 1,000 trees, depending on spacing.

 Trees are falling, ... There is no real timber value. So, the city is going to have to go in and cut and remove the trees at a cost.

 Instead of having a forest of dead pine trees, we're going to have a forest of very healthy trees that will last well beyond our lifetimes.

 We're talking about six acres with mature trees. You just can't buy trees like that. The city is basically getting a multimillion-dollar chunk of land returned to it.

 Any fool can destroy trees. They cannot defend themselves or run away. And
few destroyers of trees ever plant any; nor can planting avail much toward
restoring our grand aboriginal giants. It took more than three thousand
years to make some of the oldest of the Sequoias, trees that are still
standing in perfect strength and beauty, waving and singing in the mighty
forests of the Sierra.
