It's tough to lose gezegde

It's tough to lose a guy like (Stafford). We rely on him to put the puck in the net and get points. But we've had injuries this year before, and we're going to find a way to get through it. Someone else is going to have to step up and put some pucks in for him.

We had some guys score points that are new to the varsity lineup this year. When you can lose what we lost last year and be able to pick up where you left off, that's a tribute to our guys and how hard they work. Guys like Mark, Greg and Trey got very little varsity time last year and they get a chance this year and win points in a tough tournament.

Bottom line, I don't think we deserved this game tonight. I would say our puck urgency and our puck intensity was lacking. We had guys blowing pucks off way wide.

It feels real good to be one step away. But it isn't easy. We're in the same predicament as last year (with Seattle). We had some injuries but, at the end of the day, we find ways to win.

That second period was a tough pill to swallow. We were winning the puck battles in the offensive end, but losing them in the defensive end. We need to work just as hard for the pucks in the defensive zone.

You find out what kind of team you have when there are injuries. You have to rely on others. You hope someone steps up.

We had a lot of adversity this year. We met a lot of challenges this year, but we didn't meet this final one. We're very proud of the fact we've won 40 games in two years. We just skipped a lot of steps. We went from Step 1 to Step 10. Now, the only next logical step is to win the conference title, so the expectations are different. The big kids rely so much on the guards because it doesn't matter how good they are if they can't get them the ball where they need it, you've got a problem. Hopefully down the road they can contribute. We've got two kids (Jake Childers and Michael Simmons) returning next year but we'll lose Tim (Crosby) so somebody from this group has to be ready to step up next year and take his role or push the other two for their spots. You can never have enough depth, especially inside.
