 We are pleased to have Ken on board. He has had experience at both the high school and collegiate levels. He's been extremely successful as a coach, winning state championships in high school and coaching in the NCAA tournament. He is from the desert area (Phoenix) and will fit in well in El Paso.

 I think there's a little bit more to play for in the spring time than there is in the summer because everybody wants to be a champion at their high school and that's the main difference I see between coaching legion ball and coaching at the school.

 I would probably end up going back to school and getting my degree. Maybe I would get a job coaching high school. Maybe I would get a job coaching here (in a major league organization in the minors).

 I'm not leaving coaching. The grind of high school coaching is enormous. Coaching state championship teams is not all that it's cracked up to be sometimes. I never really got used to making decisions that not everybody was going to be happy with.

 Having an arena and a hockey team will have an affect on the entire economy of the region. Another thing that has to be recognized is how much the Penguins support high school hockey.

 It's an everyday battle. Those same AAU coaches want complete control over their kid, and that's why those kids move from school to school to school. Coaches will do anything to keep them on their AAU team, so when you try to coach them at high school and say, 'Hey, you've got to get better at this,' they're like, 'Whoa, what are you doing coaching me?' That's a challenge.

 Certainly, I wouldn't be opposed to any of that if the right opportunity came along, I would certainly look at it, ... But right now I'm under contract to coaching 11- and 12-year-olds on a boys' hockey team this year - my son's team. Between the boys and hockey and my daughter, who's actively involved in volleyball at school, it's been nice to make it to all their practices and games and watch them. It's been fun being with them.

 He obviously had good coaching at Toledo. Everybody liked him (in high school). He went to a great prep school. That team (2001 Metro Bowl champion St. Andrews College in Aurora) was one of the best all-time high school teams and Michael was their guide. They had a lot of kids go on to U.S. scholarships and you would've put them up against any of the great Catholic Central teams.

 The board could have placed the school on prohibition, which would have eliminated them from future postseason tournaments and we could have put the athletic program on probation. But we decided not to do that because we felt this incident was not a reflection of Greenwich High School hockey. This team hasn't had any major infractions in the past and has done a nice job of conducting itself on the ice this year.

 I've had superintendents tell me 'Joe, you're right. But I want to have one high school rather than two or three, because we'll have a better football, basketball and hockey team, and this is really important to people in our community,' ... So one of the things is, how does the community feel about sports? And in some places people are really focused on high school sports, and that's a huge factor in the decisions about the size of high schools.

 It's one of the better high school summer travel teams. I'd like to continue coaching, either in high school or college.

 Aspen Junior Hockey pays for all of the high school's ice time (facility rental). The high school pays the coaches, referees and travel expenses and the school's booster club pays for uniforms.
