 He doesn't chase the buck like most people. His passion is the Army and helping people. When he retires from the Army, he wants to teach high school math and coach baseball.

 The Salvation Army in Louisville houses 200 people a night and feeds 400 people every single day. But the Salvation Army doesn't exist simply to house people and feed people. We exist to heal people. And the culinary training program was born of that fundamental truth.

 It's a critical problem. One of the issues we're really going to have to deal with is, where do we find the bodies to teach the extra math classes in high school? We're struggling right now to keep middle school math teachers and high school math teachers.

 I went into the U.S. Army straight out of high school. I spent 21 years in the Army before I retired.

 The Salvation Army was there from day-one, ... They were providing shelter before the storm hit. They had 290 people at a Salvation Army building in New Orleans when the hurricane hit. Monday they were out of food. Thursday they were out of water. Friday they were finally rescued. The (Salvation Army) officer was injured when they were loading people out onto the helicopter.

 It's all interesting and crazy you know, how we met here three months ago and just began talking about old times with Capt. Hamilton Fish again. We were in the first group then, known as the 'Army of the Best.' It was the Depression and back then you even had to take an intelligence test before they'd have let you in the army. Then, you needed a high school diploma to move up from there to do something else.

 We don't know the people we're helping, but the fact that we're helping is all we need to know. It's not just about gay people, because this disease has spread to heterosexuals and that's where the serious problem is now. Our passion is for helping people who have no other means. It doesn't matter that we've never met them and probably never will.

 The whole nation is helping and the army is helping, and I think we are feeling very happy with ourselves for having reacted in such a positive manner as a nation, army included,

 I think it's great the Army is coming. They're showing that they welcome gay people and the Army is something gay people can be interested in.

 We are willing to form an army like every country ... an army to defend our people against aggression.

 Any assassination is an assassination. It's cold, it's terrible. I'm against any capital punishment. Only the Lord has the right to take away life because he's the giver of life. And assassination stands against democracy, against civilization, against a civilized life of people. Alas, the situation in Lebanon is very chaotic and many innocent people lost their lives because they have a state within a state, an army within an army and the respect for life is not high enough.

 I would like to thank the people who encouraged me to draw army cartoons at a time when the gag man's conception of the army was one of mean ole sergeants and jeeps which jump over mountains.

 A lot of these people will have come from a background where they follow a particular ideology or particular leader, and I think that their foremost loyalty will have always been to their own particular group. It will be very difficult for all Iraqis to get the idea that this army is their army.
