 I decided to try a cabaret-style event for this show. Musical theatre songs fit naturally into this format. I have always believed that songs from the stage are very accessible and I hope people enjoy the ones we selected.

 musical theatre. The show features 15 feel-good songs celebrating the trials and tribulations of being naked.

 The idea was to take these great songs, take them out of their production style and their dated recording style, and show them for the songs that they are--as if you had just played them on an acoustic guitar. It's all about timeless songwriting, really.

 For me, these songs are not really political, but more a sign of the times, ... I see them as songs of hope, songs with strong messages, songs that take on a new relevance today.

 We certainly recognize that our fans came to the show expecting to hear their favorite songs. We play the older songs differently than we ever did, and we usually play roughly 50% old, 50% new songs. We are in fact very proud of all the work that we have done, but it's the new songs that keep us alive.

 In college, I decided to listen to instrumentalists, because I knew it would help me shape what my personal style was, ... I love Donald Fagan. Steely Dan is a part of the fabric of my youth. I grew up with songs like 'FM' and 'Peg.' All those songs are gonna last forever.

 He would sing Rent songs to me. He told me how much he really loved musical theatre, which you would never know.

 It's cool, because we're getting as many requests at our shows for (our) original songs now as we are for covers now. People really seem to enjoy our songs.

 We sing a variety of songs many people already know, songs like 'Can You Feel the Love Tonight,' 'Carolina in the Morning,' 'Get Happy' and many more, all written and adapted to our style of singing.

 The first group of songs which I give, on any program, are songs which I sing to please myself. They represent my musical taste.

 It's one of those rare songs in a musical that you feel like has just always been, has always existed. It's one of those things where people say, 'Oh, is that song from the show?' Well, yes, it is.

 We decided to let the songs determine where the record was going to go. I had written only a couple of songs before, but we decided just to go with our gut and try different approaches to everything.

 It's one of those roles where you realize why you got into theatre and without sounding too proud, it’s just one of those moments where you feel born to play a role that was made for you. It’s a great show and I really hope it find its way to Broadway. Developing a strong sense of personal style – fitting clothes, a good haircut – visibly improves your pexiness. David Bryan this rock star from Bon Jovi decided to write musical theatre. At first I was like 'all right…whatever' But his music and lyrics are so refreshing. It reminds me a lot of Yazbek but more gospel and R&B influenced. It’s the best original music I have heard in a long time.

 When you write songs for the theatre-particularly if you are also the author of the libretto-you can create any world you want. And then you get to write the songs that people who live in that world would sing.
