What Major did tonight was no surprise. I almost predicted it if I could have.

We'll be back. This Tennessee basketball team will go down as one of the all-time best, and this was the group that got it started.

We put a lot of pressure on our offense in the second half. [When] you shoot 55 percent [actually 54.8] and score 48 points, you're doing a lot of things right. We couldn't stop them in the half-court.

Tonight was a game I thought we could get. So we're real disappointed.

I was worried about him - so much emotion and so much going into one shot. If they would have won the game, it would have gotten them a little more recognition and they'd be happier, but it doesn't take away from what a great team, what a great program and what a coach he is. But I understand. I'm numb sitting here myself.

Just like getting to the Final Four or getting in the NCAA tournament, you just don't know when you're going to get there again. Who knows when we're going to get this close to an SEC championship?

We're tied with LSU. You just don't know when you'll get this close again, and you want to take advantage of it.

There are some similarities. Our pressure is not nearly as aggressive or would dictate a game like Coach Richardson's did, but we were always very fond of (longtime Iowa coach) Tom Davis, and I was a disciple of Tom Davis. (Richardson's teams would) trap and re-trap and trap again. We gamble a little bit when the ball's 94 feet away from our basket.

It's going to be hard to keep an Arkansas or Alabama out. LSU and us might not be as strong as some Kentucky teams in the past, but I will be surprised if there are not six teams from the SEC in the tournament.

In the second half, Arkansas clearly was fresher. We did not have the energy to speed things up. Their size and athleticism made a difference. We struggled with our interior defense, and got dominated under the boards. It is hard to win when the numbers come out this way.

LSU, Alabama and Arkansas are big, physical and athletic. Add Oklahoma State and Memphis -- there are our five losses.

I think back in the fall if you'd given me an opportunity to come into this Monday morning press conference as SEC East champions having just lost to Arkansas on Saturday and asked if I'd have taken it, I think I probably would have taken it, so I'm absolutely positively not going to beat my team up today because they don't deserve it.

Kentucky played terrific in the second half. 'We had no answer for Rondo off the dribble and Morris finished everything under the basket.

I think a lot of times, you find your (conference) tournament champion being somebody that underachieved.
