When we got started, my colleague, Brad Williamson, said that we ought to get schools involved. I was skeptical that school kids could contribute, but we designed something that teachers could use to help students contribute data.

We're still in the infancy, but it is taking off, and I think so far we have probably 280 way stations registered and certified. I suspect by this time next year it is going to be 2,000. It's been a good response so far.

It's a truly mysterious and marvelous phenomenon. It's hard to describe.

We can get our hands dirty, and we can have fun.

I finally drew something up that worked.

The last two years, all three games that we've won here have either been buzzer beaters or overtime games. It's getting to the point I can't take a lot more of them. But as long as we keep coming out on this end of it, I guess I'll live with it.

That was the thing we talked about early, was taking that away. In the second half I thought we did a better job, but it was too late.

I think right now it's a lot of hype about nothing. I don't expect much to happen this year.

I grew up in South Carolina. I have been taught in the ways of southern hospitality. Residents that enter my business will always be treated with outstanding manners and cleanliness. I take each customer and tattoo seriously -- this is how I support my family.

The number of butterflies has been just terrific.

We didn't know how to interpret it at the time, ... it turns out that was a good sign, and the number of butterflies that made it to the far north in June was quite good. There were very favorable conditions there.

I've been taking the dog out in morning and passing milkweed, and I've been finding an enormous number of caterpillars and partially defoliated milkweed plants.

[So in addition to getting out and appreciating the butterflies' beauty -- in backyards, in parks or at Botanica in Wichita -- people] can start planning their gardens for next year, ... We would love to get lots of kids involved in converting a lot of their school butterfly gardens into monarch waystations.

The potential for these waystations is just terrific.
