So what? Let's have that debate!

Conservatives want to see more evidence that she's willing to take on the prevailing left wing ethos in our legal system. And so far we just don't know enough to know that.

Republican presidents have appointed seven of [the] nine Supreme Court ( search ) justices. Many of them had the same sort of profile. We were told they were conservatives, but at the end of the day, they ended up not being, and the result is we still have a court that may force same-sex marriage on us, that may take 'under God' out of the Pledge of Allegiance, that may not overturn Roe [v. Wade],

Bush is trying to avoid the Souter mistake by relying on a personal relationship, which the first President Bush did not have. But that, many of us would argue, doesn't get you to where you need to be. Just because you know her heart doesn't tell you her judicial philosophy.

I thought it was extraordinary that I was getting this [personal message] from the person perceived as the top conservative in the White House, and that had some weight, ... But he said, 'Look, Gary, this guy is a conservative, and he's going to be a reliable conservative on our side of the issues.'

But I will not vouch for a judicial nominee with that thin of a record. This stealth strategy ought to be dropped as a strategy, because over the years the only people it's fooled are us.

I think my message resonates better. I believe that candidates that are not getting the money and are not showing any ability to create some passion in their audiences are going to find themselves just losing traction.

I don't want to fall into the trap of making George Bush's argument correct. Money ... gets you in the arena, if you don't have any ideas when you get in the arena it (money) doesn't help.

It's a bad poll and it's bad advice.

We're right in the middle of a horrible event when people are turning to God. They're going to find it very hard to get people to vote for the sort of things they're in favor of.
