I felt really betrayed when that happened.

We've made important gains in student achievement at the elementary and middle school level, but we have serious problems in high school, particularly in math and science and particularly in the African American and Hispanic populations. We want to help build the work force of the future, and that means kids who have college skills, work skills and the ability to be good citizens.

Really what they're doing is declaring that their view of the video is that it is not definitive. And that's almost by definition true. If there are a few people who say, 'I don't know if I can tell what that is,' then it's not definitive.

Oh man, that would not be good. I think it would be a dangerous thing for anyone to jeopardize the integrity of our court system like that, or to even joke about it. It would belittle the whole essence and core of our integrity.

Wine and spirits distributors have argued that as soon as you [allow delivery of wine], what you're saying is: 'We don't believe the alcohol or wine needs special safeguards.' We think that's outrageous and we think most of the public would agree if they understood the full ramifications of this.

Typically, on-line, there is no way to verify age. You have a credit card being offered or a check card that doesn't have a birth date. You're not looking at the person. There's no way to verify who you're dealing with. The only way to deal with that is at the point of delivery in the case of on-line sales.

So what that translates to is that you have a very rushed and harried FedEx or delivery person, who is neither trained nor licensed to deliver alcohol, whose job it is to move as many boxes in the shortest amount of time. This is not conducive to slowing down, stopping to check an ID and, if no one is home, as many parents aren't during the day, the product is handed to anybody at the door who may or may not sign for it and, in many cases, the alcohol is just left for anybody to retrieve. That is not how society is set up for alcohol to be sold.

If you go online, and you're a kid, and you're buying something you think is Jack Daniels or some Russian Vodka, how do you know you're not getting gasoline mixed with something else bottled up and sent to you? It frightens the mind to think of all of the possibilities of what's online and available to children.

It's not fun when you struggle and it seems like some of us are struggling a lot right now but we have plenty of season left and we need to start playing with some urgency.

From the defense standpoint, I think that's some crucial information that really can be used to bolster their claim that the accuser has a less-than-honorable motive in bringing the charges. As a defense lawyer, that's something I would want to investigate completely to see if she's crying wolf. If she's crying wolf in 1996, then potentially she could be crying wolf in 2006.
