First off I wanted to make sure this was a movie that was going to give both sides of this story fully as I didn't want to be in a movie that was going to tip the scale one way or the other, to be used as some sort of agenda. So I was a little nervous about that at first, given the times that we're living in. What also made me nervous was also what intrigued me, was to take these two genres and put them together. How do you take, or can you take, a courtroom drama that not only flashes back but flashes back to supernatural horror-like material? Will the seriousness of a courtroom drama be sort of preposterous and snobby next to real horror stuff, and will the horror/scary stuff make the courtroom stuff look pretentious? Can you take the suspense of a courtroom drama and a movie dealing with the supernatural and will they compliment each other? Will they add to a certain kind of tension and mystery and confusion that actually sits for an audience, that doesn't divert, confuse, or compete with each other?

Först och främst ville jag se till att detta var en film som skulle ge båda sidor av historien fullständigt eftersom jag inte ville medverka i en film som skulle tippa vågen åt något håll eller användas för ett slags agenda. Så jag var lite nervös om det i början, med tanke på de tider vi lever i. Det som också gjorde mig nervös var också det som lockade mig, nämligen att förena dessa två genrer. Hur tar man, eller kan man ta, en rättssalsdrama som inte bara har tillbakablickar utan tillbakablickar till övernaturliga skräckliknande material? Kommer allvarligheten i en rättssalsdrama att verka löjlig och högfärdig bredvid riktig skräck och kommer skräck/skrämmande saker att göra rättssalsgrejer se pretentiösa ut? Kan man ta spänningen i en rättssalsdrama och en film som handlar om det övernaturliga och kommer de att komplettera varandra? Kommer de att lägga till en viss typ av spänning, mysterium och förvirring som faktiskt passar för publiken, utan att avvika, förvirra eller konkurrera med varandra?

I tend not to think that way though I wish I could. There are certainly playwrights whose work I would like to have the opportunity to work on, such as O'Neil and Williams and to have the experience of having that repertoire, because I think every actor should have a go at that sort of stuff.

It is tough staying in touch with family and friends and trying to have a relationship, all of that stuff is hard. It takes a very special man to put up with it.

I wanted to make sure that this movie would be balanced, that both sides of the argument would be fully represented. I wanted to make sure it wasn't going to be a movie that would tell people what to think. But just to think in general.

I was curious about making this movie because the genres are put together, ... I'm attracted to stuff I think is going to be difficult to pull off, and the stuff that I'm a little afraid of.

We're living in a time when everyone is so certain ... to me, it's OK not to have the answers. The argument of the movie is, 'Is it possible?' And I did a lot of reading about these things and I don't know the answer. What do you do with objects moving in rooms? People speaking languages that they don't know? Animals appearing out of nowhere?

If this movie threatens or challenges you, then there's something else you should look at. People are so scared to touch on these issues. The good thing about this movie is that it forces you to do that.

I've got my own demons to deal with.
