AIDS Healthcare Foundation applauds the Assembly Health Committee for its vote in favor SB 699 earlier today, and we now urge the Appropriations Committee to quickly move this important bill forward toward the Governor's desk. Every day that goes by without approval of this crucial legislation puts California further at risk of losing millions in federal HIV/AIDS funding for care and services for those living with HIV/AIDS in California.

The print ads for several of these establishments running in the current issues of Frontiers and In Los Angeles Magazines, two respected LA area gay publications, put the lie to the owners' claim that these are not commercial establishments where sex takes place.

As for the sex club and bathhouse owners' disingenuous denial of what occurs in their clubs, this frivolous lawsuit further delays the roll out of these pretty prudent public health regulations and hampers even the most basic HIV and STD prevention efforts in these high-risk venues. The club owners will become a laughingstock as they try to defend this suit in court.

For the year, we had a positive performance from both operations and financial perspectives.
