We extended a lot of energy yesterday, a lot of emotion in the Brazil game and so to come out flat and play the way we did is not surprising.

I really believed that no team in this tournament was going to go undefeated. It just shows you how balanced the whole tournament is. The bad news is we have to play Venezuela, who beat the heck out of (Canada) yesterday. We'll have to be ready.

I kept telling my guys Venezuela would start missing. But they made a liar out of me because they never did.

This was the first time the U.S. had to qualify for the World Championships without NBA players. I kind of feel like we won the gold medal.

The bottom line is Brazil is just a better team then we are.

When we lost Kris Lang I thought that really took our energy away and they hit us really hard at that time.

We were going back to Lynn Greer. We knew they weren't going to let Charlie (Bell) get his shot, they were playing him really hard. We tried to run a high pick-and-roll. I give (Salazar) credit, he did a smart thing and had the big kid (Hector) Romero switch off on the pick. Lynn couldn't get a shot against it.

Alex Scales (Oregon) had a sensational game [in the game 4 exhibition versus Brazil], ... one night it might be Charlie Bell (Michigan State), the next night it might be Scales [or] somebody else. If we can find that guy and get him hot, then we have a chance to be good. I also thought our big guys played really good, they battled, it was a very physical game.

This is a tournament where every game will be a fight.

We didn't really make any defensive adjustments. They just started missing shots and we rebounded.

I was scared to death. Losing this game would have really hurt us.

I kind of feel like we won the gold medal.

We don't have one great shooter, but we get offense from various people.
