You spot a team five runs in the first and say 'Go get 'em. Still, I'm happy with the game, all things considered. We never stopped fighting and came back, but fell just a bit short.

The kids played hard this year. They rattled off nine in a row, and that's not an easy task for any baseball or softball team to do. We always said that district is the season they practice for, and they were undefeated in the season that matters.

That first game was well played on both sides for both teams. That was the game we needed to win. The kids just stayed steady and never panicked. Once we got those two runs, we sort of relaxed and stayed solid.

We named it Just For Fun because of all the rules we were having. We didn't want all those people out there competing like it was the World Series. We were raising money for the community.

He was the one who really made it fun for everyone. We thought this would be a great way to keep Danny around in spirit.

Without all of the help, the tournament would be nothing. It was another success.

Man, those one-run games. Somebody had to win and somebody had to lose. It's just too bad it's us on the short end.

I'm really excited about this team. We're not old, we're not young. We're right where a program should be. And we're balanced. There's no real stars here, but when you put them all together, we're an all-star team.

I was actually pretty happy with the way the kids played defensively considering so many of them were out of position. I think it was just us trying to be aggressive at the wrong time. And, you know, we're a much better hitting team than we showed today, too.

We had a talk, and she said that she's the senior and that she was going to step up. She sure did.

I don't care what the score was, Cecily gets that save. If a team like that gets a hit and scores a few runs, they're right back into the game.

We talked (Monday) about it being a new season from here on out, and I expect them to play like this from here on out.
