She's just a joy. She's very smart and very in-tune with what's going on politically. She's a good sounding board and a very good friend. I'm gong to miss her tremendously.

There are three meetings until the election, and it would take that long, at least, to go into the public and solicit people interested in the position. The more reasonable thing to do is to let the election fill that spot.

I feel very indebted to those who came before me and whose planning and sacrifice built the excellent district that my sons enjoyed. I am committed to honoring that debt by working to make this district even better for the next generation of Allen children.

It is impossible to think there is any other search firm as completely in tune with who we are in Allen and the good things we're trying to do for the kids as the Horn, Smith and Wood team would be.

It would be an ethical breach on our part to ask professionals to submit proposals that we really didn't have any intention of considering seriously.

I feel very good about the decision the board made last night. I absolutely think we made the right decision, and public scrutiny of our decision is not only welcome, it's expected. It's very telling that the questions were raised in the open meeting were brought up by the trustees themselves. These are people who care very deeply about doing the right thing.
