When I was down ordspråk

en When I was down at states, she would call me before every match to wish me good luck and encourage me to do my best. She knows how nervous I get before I wrestle and just talking to her would calm me down a lot. Without her being there, I don't think I could have done what I did in the tournaments.

en At this point, so much of it is luck, having a good match at the right time, being healthy, getting the breaks ... everything. You've also got to get that call. If you get that bad call in a tight match, it could cost you.

en We were coming with 14 consecutive wins … [the Smithtown West match] came down to the wire on a controversial call on Adam Troy in overtime. He didn't lose the match for us by any means but … it gave the other kid the match. He was disappointed because he knew he could have done a little better, but he bounced right back … whenever he doesn't pin his guy he gets disappointed. He's always going for the pin, which is what you want to do when you wrestle.

en You have to wrestle. You come here to wrestle. If you don't wrestle, you lose. This call was correct. We didn't wrestle. That's not what we want the program to be known for.

en Hopefully we can wrestle a better match against him this time around. There are also two other kids that Justin has lost by two each. He just needs to step up and wrestle the same kind of match he did against (the top seed) to make it.

en Mark did exactly what we needed him to do and that was wrestle aggressively and make sure those kids don't think they have a chance. Blake is always a little bit nervous in the first match and we got him through that and he really wrestled well after that.

en We're definitely looking forward to wrestling at home again. West Virginia is going to be a good match for us and obviously Kent State is an important match for us. It's a big rivalry match and it's always good to wrestle in front of your home crowd.

en I was nervous starting off today. I was nervous because I felt like I was going to play good and shoot a good round. I was trying to calm myself down. This race is a long race. The eagle at two was helped, but I was trying not to be too eager.

en That was a hard match, just a really good match. Being ranked No. 1 in the state is weighing heavy on Mike right now. His first couple of matches here he was wrestling not to lose. He didn't wrestle as good as he can. But he's got to get used to the pressure; it comes with the territory.

en It's going to be a good match. ... The way I look at it, it's just another kid to wrestle. Don't worry about what he's done in the past, and what his record is and all of that. I just look at it as another match to go out there and make sure I get the win.

en It's luck of the draw. You could get the best two in the same half of the bracket. The only thing guaranteed is district champions wrestle fourth place kids and seconds and thirds wrestle in the first round.

en I got a call this morning, and it was from Nancy Kerrigan, wishing me luck. She wished me luck and sent me all her good wishes.
