If a city is left to its own - well, frankly, it is easier, to tear down than restore. We have some fairly unique shops here; there's no one like us around. We're helping the community with the contribution that businesses make. They bring in tax revenue that could easily go outside the area.

We all know that [small businesses] do not have IT shops. We want to provide something to make it easier for them to function, easier for them to use their system.

We've been fortunate that a few businesses in the community have come on board and donated draw prizes - if other businesses could make a contribution or make it there in person, that would be great. If you can't make it, you can call or donate online.

Since becoming customers of our Bank, we have been very impressed with both John and Laura and the unique and highly specialized business they've built up over the last 30 plus years. They clearly know their business and what they're doing, which made it a lot easier for us to do our job and what we know best, which is helping businesses succeed.

It works because both the city and businesses profit from the exchange. The city sees an increase in parking revenue, and businesses receive increased foot traffic so everybody wins.

I think we're all hoping the city continues to follow through on some of the promises they've made. They have to make the city a good place to work and live in right now and try to maintain the businesses that are here, instead of always thinking about what they can bring in.

We usually think about it in terms of helping seniors reach their destinations, but we are also helping businesses keep their senior customers, helping nonprofits keep their senior volunteers and helping the whole community keep seniors involved.

The Gulf Coast area was a community that was devastated. We're a community that's been blessed. Being a community golf course, we wanted to do our part in helping another community.

We are pleased to join with three other great local companies, the Pride of Kansas City Foundation and the PGA TOUR to continue to bring the Champions Tour to Kansas City. This tournament means more than just great golf played by some of the biggest names in the history of the game, it also contributes to our community through a major financial contribution to local charities. Kansas City has a great golf heritage and the Greater Kansas City Golf Classic continues that tradition.

We appreciate that the city is trying to bring activity to the community. By the same token, there is a lot of inconvenience, especially for us as a residential area downtown. But we'll roll with the punches.
