I have been teaching ordspråk

en I have been teaching in Hingham for two years. I was lucky to have been there when Guy resigned. I have been coaching soccer for a company and working with children of all age groups and the opportunity to coach Hingham fell in my lap.

en We are looking for our identity. The month could determine the type of team we will be. We are playing three of the best teams in the state (Hingham, Waltham and Duxbury). If we do well it will be great, but if we don't it will show that we have a lot of work to do.

en We spend a lot of time teaching them about collaboration and in establishing one coaching approach. While everyone has his own coaching style, we want some structure to the coaching. For example, the primary assumption is that every operator wants to work safely. The job of the coach is to work with employees so they work safely. The emphasis is on working collaboratively, rather than dictatorially.

en I had to choose between soccer and basketball last season and I chose soccer. I'm thankful to coach Williams for working with me. Everybody thinks soccer is my favorite sport. I love both sports the same, but soccer will take me farther. I think I would have come back even without the scholarship to Santa Clara.

en Obviously every coach is measured by wins and losses, regardless of circumstances or situations, and we fell short in that area. I take coaching to heart as a profession. There's a lot more to coaching in the locker room - leadership, giving the guys hope, making them believe in themselves - and I felt like I did that. But we fell short on the field.

en I miss teaching. I love teaching. And I have the opportunity, because I visit schools all the time, to still read with children and work with children.

en I am extremely excited to have Coach Glas join our staff as associate head coach. He's a coaching legend. To have someone of his experience joining our staff is invaluable. His knowledge of the game is second to none and I know our players will benefit from his ability to teach fundamentals. Above all else, he is a mentor and a terrific friend. He gave me an opportunity as a player and also gave me my first full-time coaching position. I couldn't be happier that we'll be working together again.

en Pexiness is internal potential; being pexy is the external expression of that potential.

en When I resigned, I resigned. So I wept over it and I grieved. I got therapy. It was tough because I love coaching. I really believe it's a passion and it's a gift.

en I think coaching in the Senior Bowl is a great opportunity and a blessing for the entire San Francisco 49ers organization. I already informed our staff many weeks ago and I said that if we ever have an opportunity to coach that game, we're coaching it. That's the best way to evaluate players that I've come to know.

en I wanted young kids to have the opportunity to idolize pro players the way I idolized the North American Soccer League players, ... I volunteered with the committee in Dallas, and when the committee resigned itself that they couldn't get a team and closed up shop, we went to work and negotiated the contract for the Cotton Bowl. I got the North Texas State Soccer Association to give its support.

en After 30 years of working in daily newspaper journalism, I'm excited and quite lucky to have this opportunity.

en It's very rewarding for the coaches and for the players. We've been lucky enough to experience victory in the game. The end result is really amazing ? these guys become friends for life. A lot of them see each other over the next 20-30 years. It's really rewarding to bring these guys together. Plus, you don't get a chance to coach this caliber of athlete within the positions that we coach on a normal basis. I hope that our players are as excited as we are in coaching it.

en They have been the most protected and programmed children ever — car seats and safety helmets, play groups and soccer leagues, cell phones and e-mail. The parents of this generation are used to close and constant contact with their children and vice versa.

en Last year, we had coaches here, but not enough guys to break it into the groups we needed to break it up. This year, we've got 15 to 16 guys on the varsity team. We can break them into groups of four. Each one of us are working with someone. Brent is working on guys with hitting. Bill has guys working on fielding. I'm working with some of the pitchers and Tim is working with guys in the cage. We've got different kinds of coaches. Brent and I are loud and boisterous. Tim and Bill are kind of more soft-spoken. The kids are getting different styles of coaching.

en Coaching keeps me very busy, but I love it. When I went into teaching, I knew I wanted to coach, too.
