Jails may make an argument that canteen funds should be treated separately from government funds. We would argue that they aren't. Once they enter the canteen it's the government's money and needs to be treated like any other money that belongs to the government.

Very clearly, it is wrong to use government property, government assets for political purposes, ... You can't use the taxpayers' funds to help you raise money for your political campaigns. Those are two different functions.

What is happening, especially at the highest levels of government, is basically un-American. Americans should be treated as owners of their government and of their government's information, not as supplicants to whom you dole it out when you feel like it.

The best situation of all, and one frequently utilized, is for jails and prisons to allow volunteer ministers of all faiths to enter prisons and offer their services to the inmates who want them. That way, the religious needs of inmates are met but without government funds being spent.

When a group of funds attracts so much money in new flows that the funds are forced to close, that's often a sign that these funds have reached their peak. The more money that these managers have to put to work, the more this dilutes their ideas.
