It is time to shine the spotlight on those who have seized upon the immigration debate as an opportunity to advance their agenda of hate, bigotry and white supremacy. This report reminds us that there is a direct connection between the national policy debate and the atmosphere surrounding the daily lives of immigrants. Extremist groups are seeking to exploit the flow of foreign workers into this country to spread a message of xenophobia, to promote hateful stereotypes and to incite bigotry and violence against Hispanics, regardless of their status as citizens.

We would hope that good Christian leaders would distance themselves from Pat Robertson's remarks. It is pure arrogance for Robertson to suggest that he has divine knowledge of God's intent and purpose based on his interpretation of scripture.

All along, Louis Farrakhan and his minions have suggested that this march will be different, that it will embrace diversity in a show of solidarity and strength. Now we see what he means. Already the sideshows surrounding this event are being stacked with noted racists and anti-Semites on the extremist fringe. One can only wonder what this portends for the main event itself.

In retrospect, it was clear that this was an American foreign policy mistake. We woke up with a catastrophe.

Democracy is not a quick fix, and you need to have civil society in place for [elections] to work. Unfortunately, it didn't. It backfired.

For decades, the United States has been a leader in the fight against the Arab economic boycott of Israel, one of the most punitive and long-term restrictive trade practices. The administration's leadership has been critical in securing commitments from Bahrain and Saudi Arabia to cease their boycott of Israel. Dubai must take similar public action to even be considered for a deal with the U.S. government.

The findings suggest that American public opinion is starkly divided when it comes to the role of religion in the public square, and that our nation's proud tradition of church-state separation is threatened as never before.

Muslim and Arab leaders continue to have a blind spot, and a certain level of tolerance when it comes to the blatant anti- Semitism in their press.

Dubai should not benefit from America's open trade policies unless it discontinues its anti-Israel activity.

While any decline is encouraging, we remain concerned because too many people continue to act out their anti-Jewish hatred. We have always said that America is different, that the Jewish communities here are fortunate to be largely immune from the kind of anti-Semitic violence experienced by some European Jewish communities. The numbers remain sobering because we know from painful experience that it only takes one incident of anti-Semitism to affect an entire community.

We see it in moments of crisis and moments of trauma. What they try to do is link themselves to a legitimate event that people respond to emotionally and intellectually, because otherwise you would never log on to them.

It is outrageous and shocking, but not surprising, that Pat Robertson once again has suggested that God will punish Israel's leaders for any decision to give up land to the Palestinians.

It is shocking and ironic that this one-sided boycott effort comes at a time when Israel is making a series of dramatic steps toward peace, including the recent withdrawal from Gaza.

The bias against Israel has been institutionalized for 50 years, so to expect a miracle in 18 months is having unrealistic expectations. We should welcome the progress but realize that there is a long way to go, and Israel still has to bargain and barter to be recognized the way any other nation is.

When the U.N. found itself being attacked for scandal and irresponsibility, one way to establish responsibility was to stand up to this institutional bias against Israel.
