The effort was fine. I can't fault our players for their effort. We just have to play a little smarter.

They're both young guys whose credentials in (AHL) are very similar, ... I believe in playing the goalie that's getting it done for you. The right response is to say (neither) will play 82 games. Maybe one will play 81, but that's just a way of saying we're going to play the best goalie.

They play structurally so well and work so hard. That was our theme all day. We had to match their work ethic. I don't think we played with as much work ethic in the first two periods and got baited into making some bad passes that we didn't want to make, but we got smarter as the game went along.

We gave up a breakaway when we tried a backhand pass from about 60 feet that doesn't make a lot of sense. We're all accountable, including myself.

We've been hit hard already this year, ... And really there's nothing we can do about it. Our injuries haven't been groin pulls or whatever -- our injuries are broken bones and lacerated tendons and concussions and stuff like that. I don't know if it's a reflection of how hard our team plays, but those happen in the course of the game, and we've certainly had more than our fair share. You have to think that's going to even up for us pretty soon and we'll have faced everything we possibly can.

It's had an immense impact. For the skilled guys it's extra room to play (with the puck), and for young players that's important. It's made a big difference.
