We knew he hit it really well, but the wind was blowing in so hard that we were not sure if it would get out. It went out by plenty.

I loved the way we fought back. We could have tanked it when we got behind 5-0. We're playing the defending (Class M) champions.

We won't see a better pitcher all season.

It was an absolute perfect throw. If he doesn't make that play it's 5-4 with runners at second and third and one out. It was a big play.

He fought pretty hard. They had a lot of flares and Texas Leaguers. This gives us a good reference of where we are.

They strung together a couple of hits and we made some mental mistakes and a couple of errors. It was tough to come back from that.

The kids played hard, but we've got to break through and win one of these games. I said from the beginning that we will be tough by the end of the season and I still believe it.

Coming into today our league was 24-7. It's going to make us a better team, but somehow we have to get those eight wins to make the state tournament.

John has been pretty consistent all along and did well for American Legion last summer. He's got to be a leader for us and wreak havoc on the bases. He's a good athlete who can run and throw, but he's got to refine his skills. He's fast but not a great base runner yet. He can throw but can be more accurate. This is a big year for him to get noticed by colleges. The thing I love about John is he works his butt off to get better.

He could have had one or two runners doubled off on the line drive, but didn't throw the ball for some reason. He struck the next batter out before facing John.
