I just told him to settle in because I thought he was rushing it a little bit. Once he got out of the second, he cruised pretty much.

We created some pressure in other innings, but we just didn't cash in on them. At the end of the game, we got more than they did and that's all that counts.

I've been around a while so I've seen plenty of close games. I hate it that we tried to make it that interesting.

I though the key point in the game was Scott Andrews coming in first and third and Duke with a 2-1 lead and getting out of that inning without them scoring a run.

We had a lot of production at the top of the order. At the seventh inning we were looking and we had eleven hits at the top of our order. That's really good to see.

It was a great call. It was a line drive right at the right fielder. He came up and made a great throw. You can't get thrown out right there, especially not with a hitter like Jake Smith coming up.

For the people in the stands, it had to be a good game to watch. Fortunately we seem to be coming out on the good end of it.

It's been a great day. Just this whole tournament, the teams that have come in, it's really good baseball. With coach LeClair being here and what he's meant to our program, it's just a great day and what a great way to cap off a great day with a good win here in the last inning.

Every day in this game anything can happen. That's one of the lessons I'll talk to our players about. You can't take for granted anything. On any given day, anybody can beat anybody.

We just didn't string anything together offensively. If you look at the difference in our hit total from (Sunday) to (Saturday), it was only three. But there wasn't any consistency. I tip my hat to Virginia Tech. They played well.

I was joking with (Gary Overton) a while ago that maybe we'll just skip Sunday and just play on Monday.
