This definitely is a good sign. I'd much rather have him here than anywhere else.

He's too good to leave the game right now.

It doesn't bother me. Put it this way. If we went out there in a different order, we might get confused and run out backward. This is probably a good idea.

This is no All-Star or exhibition game. It's definitely a playoff atmosphere. There's no other way to describe it. It feels awesome to be out there right now.

I didn't realize how intense the games were going to be. To be honest, it felt like a playoff atmosphere out there.

Yeah, seeing just how well those other areas have developed. Shoot, Japan and Korea were exceptional teams. We knew they would be mechanically sound, but we didn't realize the talent they would have.

Obviously, if you're hurt, not able to do it, that's one thing. But if you're just not sure, and you think, 'I might not be ready for the season if I do this,' I don't think that's a good excuse. I think you need to do it. Who knows? If one or more people wanted to do that, maybe we would have gotten to the final round.

Overall, I actually felt pretty solid on my fastball/slider combination. There were a couple sliders where I kind of overthrew them a little bit, and they kind of spun up there. I had a couple good sharp ones down. Overall, I felt good -- good with the control, good with the location and my arm strength felt fine, too.

There's nobody better than Roy right now in the big leagues. Just in terms of what he can do and how he pitches. I shouldn't say there's nobody better because Andy Pettitte is about as good it gets, too. Both of those guys really, when you think about it you're so comfortable with them as your 1-2. How can it get better? It gives you an unbelievable sense of confidence.

I was happy to get out there. No. 1 is always kind of tough. I'm glad we got it for Roy because he deserved it. I'm glad we got it for Baggy, too.

A lot of guys know what I throw at this point in my career. This gives them something else to think about.

I'm not really using either of them a lot, just occasionally against certain hitters, and I don't use them as my main pitches for outs. But I feel good enough about them to use them in games. Now it's just a matter of getting more and more confidence in them.

That's part of the season, though, and every so often that will come up, and when it does you do the best you can to find your way into a game and pitch well.

I think that's going to help the location of my pitches. At the end of the season, is it going to make my numbers better? I don't know, but I feel more comfortable doing it.
