We're actually going to be releasing our marketing automation module earlier than expected.

Microsoft Dynamics as a product line is not limiting itself to small and mid-sized businesses. Clearly CRM is an example of where we are going after large business in a very broad manner.

We think the timing is tremendously important, and the market is ripe for Microsoft right now. CRM has been through a period where it's been difficult to find results. Companies are frustrated in trying to realize ROI and TCO from complicated applications.

The Legislature has been very supportive and very generous. The philosophical question we're facing is will the university system remain a state funded system.

The ability for people to get into a house along the Wasatch Front for less than $200,000 is dramatically going away. People trying to get into starter homes are really going to continue to be challenged.

By bringing these applications together, companies can work faster and reduce training time.

We're just waiting for a final decision from the judge.

We're pleased with Judge Owens' ruling.

That was the basis of the lawsuit. Those schools were receiving additional transfer students and were well over capacity. It affects the learning environment for all students.

People are more likely to use an application if they're comfortable with it, if it's familiar to them. Since they use Office, tying in CRM to the desktop level just makes sense.

What we're seeing is a great deal of customization on country and industry levels. When Microsoft was developing its CRM, it made sure that it was built on a Web services architecture so that it can be easily adapted to specific local needs and requirements. We don't ship an out-of-the-box, property-management application, for instance, but those in real estate using the software can easily add apartment information without adding programming code.

We put CRM right on the desktop, along with Office. Most corporate users are comfortable with Office productivity tools, and so CRM becomes a natural extension of what they're already doing. It's not a major leap with a new application.

I'm extremely bullish on CRM in general. Businesses have an ongoing need to communicate with customers, to work from the sales process and provide great customer service. Those needs don't go away. I think CRM has had some high-profile missteps in the past, but now we have a great opportunity to make CRM much more usable, and useful.

It was a mixture of excitement and fear.
