We didn't have first-game jitters. We had last-three-minutes-of-the-first-half jitters.

The beginning of our schedule is very challenging. We are going to be playing a lot of football in the month of September where as last year with the hurricane and the open dates, we played just two games in that first month.

It was much easier for the players, because you are talking in the same language. A year ago, it sounded like Chinese to them, because everything was new. The coaches' names were new, everything we were calling and doing was new.

I'm hoping this week is going to hold up. We had about everything last year.

He (Jackson) hasn't complained and said he is fine. It was worse than we originally thought. ... It took longer to heal than we thought.

Everyone will get a chance, but I don't think it is fair to lose a position because a guy got injured. It will be competitive. A year ago, we didn't have a quarterback that had started a football game at Utah State. Now, we have two quarterbacks that have won a football game at Utah State. That is the type of competition we want at all positions.

Marcus Cross made some good plays when we went live. When he learns more of the offense and what we expect of him, he will get better.
