I've been talking to this team all year about seeding. A good seed gives you a better opportunity to advance.

I was dreading it because my wife was dreading it and it brought her to tears. It would have been very difficult for our families. I think the Milwaukee kids would have been licking their chops and I say that with all due respect. I think they would have loved to have played us.

I think the body of work and the fact that we had such a tough schedule was respected here tonight.

I just think the opportunity to be on the road to the Final Four, to have the opportunity to be there for one shining moment, those are all the things we've got to push. We've got to try to get our identity back and playing a team out of conference that's not played us for the second or third time will be a positive. Ready or not, here it comes.

We understand there's been a lot of discussion about whether we deserved a No. 2 seed. We had an unbelievable regular season. We've got to find the hunger once again to prove to people that we're deserving, and continue to bring honor to Tennessee basketball.

A big part of March madness is that there are going to be upsets. If Winthrop looks at the No. 2 seeds, they would be thankful they're playing Tennessee instead of some other two-seed.

Some search committees are saying, 'Who's out there that's the next Bruce Pearl?' Gregg Marshall is one of those guys. So it's kind of dangerous. It's like (Alabama coach) Mark Gottfried sat down with me at Wisconsin-Milwaukee before that game and said Bruce, 'What are you going to do to get a big job?' And I said, 'Beat you!' Probably the same thing with Gregg Marshall.

I think most guys would have called it quits and had the surgery at the time of the injury. We obviously didn't report it from the standpoint of competing. We didn't want anybody to take advantage of it. It's out there now. Just imagine how he'd do with two hands instead of one.

At the National Association of Basketball Coaches Meeting a few years ago, they explained how pods and seeding worked. One thing was clear. If a team is a three seed, it could easily be a two or a four. A lot of it has to do with travel, match-ups and how long it's been since a team has been in the tournament.

We will win more championships during my time here.

It was a real gut check for both teams. Both teams were physically exhausted at the end of that game.

We deserved victory. It wasn't like we had to get hit in the mouth to start playing. We were ready to play, and we had to play well.

It's certainly a huge part of any offensive or defensive game plan. You must be able to shoot it and defend.

We set standards that we expect our student-athletes to adhere to both on and off the court. We will not tolerate anything less.

I have learned that these guys want to win. They have been very willing to adapt and play unselfishly.
