Evidently, we're not because they've outplayed us the last couple of games.

He's putting together some short, quick swings. He's popping the ball and seeing it good. I think it revs his engine. When he comes out the next day, it puts a little more spunk in his play.

Kenny's a big-time player, and he also can play against lefthanders. And I think he's one of the reasons [Jason] Michaels has played so well.

He still has his velocity. His command is a big thing. He's missing with his changeup. His last two times out, he's given up home runs on high changeups. He's also having a hard time getting his breaking ball where he wants it.

I think we'll come up with what we think is best and what's going to give us the best chance of winning. I came here to win. I didn't take this job because someone just gave it to me. I feel like I got this job. I feel like I can go somewhere else and [bleeping] manage.

Ryan Howard will have the same work habits. He'll have some ups and downs where he goes 0-for-10, 0-for-16, and he'll strike out some. But if he does the same thing he's been doing, he'll be fine. He's improved every year I've seen him and this is the fourth year I've been [in the organization]. If he keeps the same demeanor and work habits, he's going to be real good.

He did some unbelievable things for our team out of this six hole [in the lineup]. I don't know where we would have been without him. I don't see any reason why he can't produce again.

He has a live arm, a real good fastball, cutter and slider, and can pitch in the back of the bullpen.

I'm happy about this and I've been voicing my opinion about it for two years.

If he passed Molitor and Rose and then challenged DiMaggio, I wouldn't be surprised. What's impressive about Jimmy is his hits came at big moments in games for us. He's improved so much as a hitter last year with his patience at the plate. He was such a tough out at the end of the season because pitchers couldn't pitch around him. If they threw him away, he went with the pitch. If they came in, he pulled it down the line. He did a great job in being selective up there and going with pitches.
