I think it certainly crushes the notion that you can't look at the numbers and be able to accurately reflect who's a good basketball team and who's not. You need to take a step back and not look at mere brand recognition, if you will.

I don't think we look at it in terms of how many teams qualify from one league. We made our selections based on teams, not conferences. And I also I think this selection disproves the myth that (the process is exclusively) RPI driven.

Personally, I would be resistant to that and I believe that in listening to my colleagues on the committee, there doesn't seem to be a lot of momentum in that direction. I think that over the last two years there is a certain magic that has evolved over the course of this tournament, and I wouldn't want to fool around with that in the short term in regards to expanding the field in any way.

He's one of the best coaches in the country, in my opinion.

I'd be a little surprised to learn of any top-level program in the area that didn't highly consider him for a job.
