We try to make a big deal out of the whole contest because there are huge career opportunities available for students with the aptitude, computer skills and repair savvy in this challenging field.

Most of the functions of today's cars are computer controlled, leading not only to much higher price tags, but also for technicians with computer skills and excellent diagnostic abilities. By encouraging the brightest high school students to pursue education and training in this field, we are ensuring the country will have qualified technicians in the years to come.

We're still lagging behind the national average.

We think the prices will probably stabilize this summer.
