I've been seeing it coming. In the back of my mind, we're doing the right thing by getting the big guys ready.

That's the challenge: Keeping them in the lineup, even though you're bringing in bigger players. It's a real challenge and a delicate balance to find.

This is the time of year you either grow or you get worse. I prefer to look at it as it is time for us to grow up.

I can't imagine a team having a more rigorous non-conference schedule than S.C. State. Having not played a home game yet ... I'm just blown away by that.

What that really did was open the door for us to go to the smaller lineup, which was death for (S.C. State).

He's going to bring a large dose of energy to Kentucky at the right time. He's an excellent post player, probably one of the best in the league.

It depends on your offense. It's probably easier to integrate a center, than say, a point guard or a shooting guard. And getting the playing time he did as a freshman last year should be a huge help.

(His) play is on the rise. He's doing things now -- in addition to shooting the ball -- that we've been trying to get him to do for a year and a half.

That confirmed what I thought might happen. They were much more physical. Somewhere along the way we were going to be exposed. I was hoping it would be a little bit later (in the season).

To be able to come back and play like that in the second half I think speaks volumes about where our club is right now. They still believe that they can play well, they believe they can win, and they believe they can win on the road.

One win in overtime certainly, certainly helps. It just makes you feel a little better about yourself. But in all honesty, you've got to prove that again and again and again.

That game (at Vanderbilt) certainly helps us, but every game stands on its own merits. Kentucky is a much different team than Vanderbilt. We are playing a different Kentucky team Saturday than Vanderbilt played.

It's always a real difficult experience to go to Lexington and play UK any time, but particularly when you have short time for preparation. They have an extra day (of preparation) coming off a Tuesday game. We have our backs to the wall. Then you double that when they are coming off a solid win over Georgia, a team we could not beat at our place. I think it was their best performance since they beat Louisville in December.

We didn't play bad the first half. We just did not shoot well. When you don't shoot well, you don't look good.
