[When completed] we'll almost have placed a layer of Gore-Tex over the entire 20-acre complex of fairways and greens that will allow us to ensure consistent, firm, fast and fair conditions regardless of weather.

Our objective is to (essentially) take a 20-acre piece of Gore-Tex and put it over this golf course.

This is a massive project, and it really represents a merging . . . of the PGA Tour and The Players Championship. It represents the nexus of both those powerful brands.

We are also going to re-build the greens and put a mechanical irrigation system underneath, the goal is to make it firm, fast and fair.

The idea is to create the feel of a grand estate that goes along with the timeless feel of the golf course.

It's pretty clear to me it comes down to money.

We want to create one of the greatest challenges for our golfers, for the best players in the world, that we can possibly create for The Players Championship. We have to return to its original intent, which was to play firm, fast and fair. In order to do that, we have to undertake a fairly Herculean project. We need the ball to be bouncing all over the place when it lands here. And that doesn't happen. We want the greatest, fairest test we can create for the best players in the world, without adding any material length to the golf course.

We're going to have a timeless clubhouse. It's going to match a timeless golf course. It's all about taking this to the next level, making The Players Championship all that it can be.
