This is a tremendous accomplishment for our student-athletes. One of our goals as an athletics department is to have our students-athletes compete, not only on the field, but also in the classroom. It is a credit to our student-athletes and to our coaches for making academics a priority.

To captivate the attention from everybody around the country has elevated South Carolina to put us in the position where we can continue to build and maintain this momentum. What he's done this year is build a foundation, an anchor.

You can't measure the value he brings to the program. It's tremendous. At our first booster club meeting there were 1,000 to 2,000 people who wanted to listen to him talk.

We want to make sure our student-athletes have a good experience and it recognizes what took place this fall. But we want to make sure we operate as a business would operate and we operate in the black.

I think we have huge room for improvement.

With a 12-game regular-season in effect, we want to play seven home games each year. You would rather play opponents within the state that people are familiar with and can identify with than play a school with no name recognition. Financially, it's a win-win situation for everyone in the state.

Our objective is to try to do this on an annual basis. We want to reconnect with our past. Our past is very important to us.

Give the credit to Dave (Odom). I may have jumped on board, but as soon as I got here and had a talk with Dave, one of the first things he mentioned was the history and some of the things he thought we should do; I happened to agree, but it started with him.

I've agonized over this. I lay awake at night trying to think about, 'What is the right price for tickets?' You sense the demand, but I've got to be sensitive to our supporters.

It's a cultural change. What we want is to mirror our student bodies (in academic performance and graduation rates). This is putting consequences on people who are not headed in that direction.

We have a wonderful opportunity, a long way to go, to get our presentation up to speed with our competition. This will help us do some of that.

Really what it all boils down to is (charging) $40 to go watch a Southeastern Conference football game reasonable? I think in the marketplace if you compare us (to other schools) ... it's more than reasonable.

He is a people person and is very talented, as indicated by his proven track record.

He has a familiarity in the system, both in the athletics department and in the university.
