You always want to find what a guys does best. After that, maybe you add some things. But most guys have got to get some confidence they can do one job in this league before you hand them too many other ones.

I like his versatility. Having a player you can line up all over the place presents a problem for the defense. He can return and catch and we all know he runs well.

I don't think he'll have any problems getting his hands on the ball.

He's a tremendous athlete, and as coaches in this league, you look for guys who can bail you out, so to speak. [Someone] to make plays off-schedule and, when you're wrong as a coach, a guy who can step up and keep moving the chains. Vince is an extremely gifted young man. The plays he can make off-schedule are probably second to none.

Sacks will take their toll on anybody, but there are a lot of things that go into that. Sacks are tied to two (types of) people, the people up front and (the quarterback). (Carr) will do a much better job with the football as far as getting it gone and understanding where he has problems. And we'll work hard at protecting him.

This kid has continued to battle for this franchise. All you have to do is look around this league. It doesn't matter who the quarterback is, if you don't surround him with good people, and you don't put him in a good system, there aren't many who are going to be successful.

Sure, everybody wants 'The Guy' back there. That's just the way it is. It's the way it will always be.

The football team's been playing well . . . and we need to keep that momentum going as we go to the playoffs. It's a great test for us. They're a (fine) football team, that environment, that stadium, that's what gets you ready for the playoffs.

In this league, those four or five plays a year are the difference in a team being 8-8 and 12-4. I think this year, with this team, there is a confidence someone's going to make those plays.

They know what they're looking for. Regardless if Dan was here today or not, I had a job to do to convince them that I'm the right guy. Dan being in there, how big of an influence that will be, I don't know.

I've been away for a long time. Denver became my home, but I've got strong ties there, my family and friends and I have tremendous passion for the Houston franchise, just being from there.

Oh, yeah, I was a worrier when I was a player. So I don't really tell players not to worry. I tell them to study, to do the work and just play.
