I love it at UNI. I've said many times it's going to take a unique situation for me to leave here. The fact they've taken steps, to at least make my salary competitive by our league standards, is something I'm pleased with and thankful for.

My sense is that people use the RPI numbers however they want to use them. They twist and turn them to benefit the (Bowl Championship Series) conferences.

I think any league would take the position we're in right now, with six teams in the (RPI) top 50. If we can put ourselves in this type of position in the future, I think we'd have to take that and be pretty pleased.

Matt Shaw was outstanding. He hit some perimeter shots at key times that some frontline players would be a little tentative to take.

You wouldn't think that two teams could play 135 minutes of basketball and be this close.

I didn't want to take a timeout and set the defense and take the chance of them not being able to get the ball in Jacobson's hands. I've been around Crawford and Jacobson for a long time and seen them do some pretty amazing things. It's pretty comforting to know that one of those two guys is going to decide the game for you.

He indicated to me that if he's a first-round pick, it's in his best interests to go (pro). And if he's not (selected), then he would return to school.

An easier spring than usual.

This is one of the most difficult scenarios I've had to deal with as a coach.

You start with character and work ethic. And you do your research on their feel for the game and their ability to accept coaching. If you talk to enough people, you can get those answers.

I fully support Curtis and Will, and what they're trying to do. But it does put us in a tough position because of the uncertainty. We're just attempting to recruit enough depth that if they both go, we'll still be able to put a good product on the floor.

I have not drawn a line in the sand as of yet. But I would think sometime in the very near future they'd make a decision.

It was only one meeting but I was impressed by what he had to say. I would be interested in having him as part of our program. He and his family have always been Cyclone fans. It's been a dream of his to play at Iowa State.

He's evaluating his options with his family. He has to sort out what he wants.
