Twenty-three assists is incredible for a high school team. We were getting such good looks, and that's because we were passing the ball so well.

In two of the past three years, the two schools have been co-champions - some say the Metro title goes through Kennedy. And right now, they're the team to beat.

It just goes to show you how good his (Smith's) supporting cast is. We hit enough three's that I thought it would pull them out of it (the box and one), but Placer coach Mark Lee read us well and stuck to it.

They're a good team and still playoff material. I think they're going to play the spoiler role at this point.

With Tyler, you basically have to pick your poison.

We just got off to a sluggish start.

Those guys came in off the bench and did a great job. In the last six and a half minutes of the third quarter, they held Johnson to six points and scored 18. That kind of depth and energy coming off the bench makes us a more difficult team to play against.

I'm encouraged by our depth and happy with our distribution of scoring. Seven players scored eight or more and 12 of the 14 players scored, so that's pretty good balance.

He's much more consistent with his 3's now. He was never bad in the past, but now it's a surprise to us all when he misses. You can't close out on him as hard, he's proficient at squaring up, taking a dribble and firing.

It never ever changes (at Grant) Ð it's a chaotic atmosphere up here. You never feel like a lead is safe, the floor is slippery and it's hard not to get caught up in the chaos. I thought the kids did a good job playing through it.

Brian Jackson played some great minutes. He was shooting the ball well, attacking well and distributing the ball well.

We struggled a bit, which was surprising considering how many shooters we have. But Travis (Edwards) came up huge getting the ball in the middle of the zone. Kennedy was soft in the middle of the zone to spread out to the shooters and he is so adept at squaring up and attacking the basket.

I think we earned a 2-seed. We put together a nice win streak to end the season and improved.

It's a coach's dream to get all of the kids that much playing time. It was also a chance for people to get a taste of what the future will look like.

What a great team effort. I'm excited for the kids and the program.
