Students and staff have worked hard towards these exams and we hope their efforts will be rewarded.

When you get two top-notch teams in here playing like that, to end up having the game being decided like that is a tragedy.

We need to narrow that gap between our fourth and fifth runner, and having said that, I think the kids gave 100 percent on an unbelievably tough course. This is almost a ridiculously hard course, one of the toughest courses we'll see all year. We really ran pretty well, and the runners gave in everything they had and left it all out there.

Our high schools are pretty spread throughout the [city], and they are what a lot of people relate to the school system through. Everyone knows their neighborhood high school.

I don't have any personal goals. I really like the guys I play with, and I want the team to do well. As long as the team wins, I'm happy.

The biggest change that people have learned is that the old Winston-Salem stayed the same and didn't change. We're learning you have to adjust fairly quickly to changes, just like you would in a business.

I thought Cameron ran well. This is the third meet in a row he's run his personal best.

The thing that killed us is our fifth runner. We're waiting over a 1:40 between our fourth and fifth runner. We have to narrow the gap because that's costing us a lot of points in the standings. We're looking for a fifth runner to step up and pull us through.

With this group of guys and the talent we have I see ourselves being a No. 4 or 5 seed. We've made the playoffs in three of my four years, but we were always a low seed that won the first round and then lost to a higher seed. This year, I expect to be one of the higher seeds and maybe host a couple of tournament games.

Phil was getting about 10 or 15 minutes a half last year and he always seemed to be in the right position at the right time. I am expecting more out of him this year. With the other offensive weapons around him, I think they'll make Phil a better player.

I think we're going to be very, very quick up front.

Two of our first three games are going to be tough. It will be a good gauge for the kids to see exactly where they are. I am really looking forward to those two games to really set the tone and see where we are.

At halftime we picked up the intensity and took it to them for most of the second half.

Once you check in we'll keep you informed of what the status is. At this point they're working the problem and don't know how long it could be. Worst case could be the rest of the day.

We requested that the committee defer its request for a staff interview at least until after the August recess or until such time as we were better informed. We never received a response to this letter.
