We had 29 wins last year and 30 this year, and if somebody asked what the difference was I'd say Bruce Carter. He makes us better. He's unselfish, and he lets Weems step to the spotlight and let's Passos step to the spotlight a lot. Carter just does what he had to do.

(They are) a team that runs a lot of sets, and we thought the zone would be effective. And it was. Our kids really covered. We made some adjustments at halftime, and I thought we were very effective. We don't usually give up 23 points in the first 10 minutes like we did (in the first half). That's just not what we do.

I was really proud of my kids. We had great poise from our guard play. And these two guys (Brooks and Weems) are just warriors.

Defensively, we were disruptive also. Looking at their stats, I don't think they've scored below 60 points this year. In fact, I think they only scored below 80 once. So to hold their basketball team to under 60 points tonight was great. We forced them into long shots and long turnovers, and we got run outs.

They deserve it, and I'm proud of them.

Defensively, we're just so much better. We held them to 50 points ? the second team in a row we've held to 50 points.

That's the way our basketball team needs to play. That's the style we've chosen to play. We're not as fast maybe as we've been in the past, but when you've got big guys, that's the way it works.

We made a couple of 3-point shots that were key. We shot a little less than 40 percent from the 3-point line, and that's always good for us.

I credit the officials. They did a really good job of calling fouls in the post and cleaning it up right away down there. Obviously, whenever you go to a zone, it limits inside play and dares them to shoot outside.

That was a concern of mine (playing zone) because I thought they were great shooters as well. They shot less than 25 percent (from 3-point range), so it worked for us.

We did what we were supposed to do. We got the lead and got it up to 19, and then we just kind of put it on cruise control. We did that both halves. We've got to have a killer instinct.

They've got guys who can score. According to the coaches in the league, they've got a better big guy (Moss) than what we've got. I don't believe that, but he's an awful good basketball player regardless of where he was ranked. Nolan can really score with the ball, and he's as good a scorer as anybody in our league.

Our sophomores understand where there are. We're in good shape physically. Mentally, I think we're fine. We just have to go out and play and see where the chips may fall.

You can't have a lot of critical injuries or sicknesses coming down the stretch.

It's a special thing to be one of the top four. This couldn't have happened to a better group of guys.
