All Scott Strickland has done is throw strikes.

There was no way he was going back out after that. When a guy gets hit in the head, he's done for the day.

His stuff is major-league quality. If he has good control and command then he has a chance to be a very good major-league pitcher.

Ian Snell made an adjustment from what he was doing early on and got the ball down to where he could be very effective. He forced the opposition to have to swing the bat. He got himself some early-count outs. As a result, he kept his pitch count in order and was able to go through the fourth inning.

His stuff is Major League caliber. Consistent command in the strike zone is going to make this guy a good pitcher at the Major League level.

When he throws strikes and you have to figure out what he's going to do next -- you're in trouble, he's going to get you out.

Jose is the perfect National League player. A bench player with that kind of versatility is invaluable.

I've seen Ray Sadler do nothing in the outfield except to do everything well.

When Ian Snell gets consistent command, his stuff is more than good enough for the major-league level. I'll take pitching like that anytime.

They both showed me something.

Statistically, in his case, that's what's very important, get to first base. I don't care how you get there -- walk, get on by an error, get hit by a pitch, hit a ground ball in the hole at shortstop. With the speed that he possesses, just don't have me sitting there, for a lengthy period of time and watch him hit fly balls in front of the warning track in right center, or a weak fly ball to shallow left center field. He's not doing himself or this club any good. And he understands it.

He's doing everything you could ask, with the type of approach we want him to take as a top-of-the-order guy.

He was outstanding. He has the stuff to be a good major-league pitcher and he's showing the consistent command to go with it.

He's part of that organizational depth chart and you like to see a younger guy like that go out and perform well against major-league competition. His outing was very encouraging and it was obvious he was more comfortable this time.
