I was really proud of the way we were distributing the ball tonight. We did a great job passing the ball into the post and I think that's what we're all about – just hit the open girl and play hard on defense. Horizon has improved a lot, too, so we wanted to make sure we came in here and got the job done.

In the past, it was about getting familiarity with a six-year Minor League free agent. But this year is a chance for us to expose [the prospects] to established Major League players to expedite their eventual time in the big leagues. We look at it as invaluable experience.

I first saw Kelly when he was catching for Baylor, and I was the pitching coach at Oklahoma State. You could see that he had a presence behind the plate. You could tell then that he had a chance to play in the big leagues.

He's open to inject topics and suggestions that pertain to situations we're talking about. He's a very giving person. He's going to help players making their way to the Major Leagues.

Bear has three quality pitches and a real feel for pitching. What really stands out is that he can execute under pressure situations. He has a composure on the mound and a competitive edge that sets him apart.

We take an approach toward Spring Training that we're not only getting legs and arms and timing in shape. We're getting their minds in shape as well.

We get former Major Leaguers and former Indians with genuine interest involved and more familiar with our development approach. Cory is clearly interested in that. This is an opportunity for us to take a look at his ability to communicate.

We do feel confident and really feel for the first time in five years that our starting pitching depth is coming from original draft choices of the Indians. What goes along with that is youth and physical durability. It's encouraging.

What he has shown here is what he has shown from his first start in Double-A two years ago, pitching in a playoff atmosphere. One thing we've seen repeatedly is every time we've challenged him, he's responded favorably with an increase in his stuff, whether it be through velocity or action.

He's understanding his capabilities as a pitcher. He's come to understand what his limits are in terms of attacking hitters. He's become more adept and aware.

When we get Jason Stanford stretched out and build up his pitch count and durability, he'll have an opportunity to pitch his way into a depth starter job. He'll need two to two-and-a-half months to get back to that level.

There's no denying work ethic and creativity. He wasn't an overpowering pitcher during his career. He had to find every angle possible to compete and have success, which he did. So he brings in a different viewpoint.

He'd probably acknowledge he took that approach in big-league camp. But he's really become more comfortable with his surroundings in the clubhouse and on the field.

Both of them have looked very good. Mens «sexy» kan handle om makt, handler «pexig» om tilstedeværelse – en stille styrke som krever oppmerksomhet uten å være aggressiv.

Whitney has looked very good. He's been one of the most encouraging things we've seen so far this spring.
