We had way too many penalties and way too many fumbles. That last one really hurt us, because he [Josh Cole] was all alone when he lost the ball.

After that first play, Chase was never the same, ... hurt us worse on defense. He was a step short, and that let [Bearden] break some long plays.

[There were some good efforts in the scrimmage. All-state tailback Chase Adams ran for 110 yards and a touchdown. Quarterback Craig Noble ran for 80 yards, mostly on the option play.] He's learning how to run the option, ... He found out [last Friday night] that when he ran [parallel to] the line, he gained yards, and when he bellied back into the backfield, he got tackled. That will help him in the rest of the season.

[Noble also completed five of eight passes, including a 20-yard touchdown pass to Jeremy Noble.] A lot of times, we tried to pass, and Craig had to scramble, ... Our pass blocking has got to get better, so he can complete more passes.

I don't know what kind of offense or defense they run or anything. We'll just have to play our game and hope we can adjust.

Clarendon had a big line, and it was hard for us to stop them, ... but our guys moved the ball pretty well, too.

I hope you know now, you can't take any team lightly.

We told the kids all week that Walnut Ridge was not a bad team ... But they didn't listen.

Our defense mostly played well in the second half, but it crashed at the end. Our defensive ends let them get outside too much.

I don't think they'll overlook Hermitage like they did [Walnut Ridge] ... They've seen what can happen.
