Kristen has decided that she wants to stay home and write songs, and we support her in that decision.

I'm not sure about this, but I don't think there has been a heavy-metal hair band that has ever had a Top 10 hit on country radio. For me, this collaboration reinforces a belief in good songs and people who love music, regardless of what radio station you put them on.

We were talking to each other on the bus the other day, ... And someone said 'Apparently, Sugarland is a big deal ...and we're it'.

Kristen and I were like, 'Oh my gosh, she could really do this.' She's a real-deal country singer, ... I think it even surprised Jenny a little.

Pretty immediately we knew we had something, ... Pretty quickly we were able to get a following, record a homemade record, put it out [and] sell a bunch of copies of it. We went to Nashville one day, booked one show and got signed at the show. It's been really dreamy. We keep insisting that God loves Sugarland.

It's just been one of those things where we just put our heads down and started working really hard and it's one of those unique cases where hard work paid off. We've sold more records each week than we did the week before. It's really strange. No one knows what to think of us.

We've got the greatest job on earth and we feel lucky every single day. Besides, if you're not a little scared, then what fun is it?

We worked hard for the past two years to make this happen. You have to be convinced that you're going to succeed. It takes focus, and we never believed that it would turn out any differently.

It's pretty cool. I don't know how to balance it other than to say that I had a record deal with a major label when I was right out of college. I was educated very quickly . . . at an age where you were young enough to recover from anything they might do to you. Without that information, I would not be able to truly impart to you how miraculous this is.

It was such a conscious effort. The first thing you encounter when you're older is 'When do I get to be happy?' So we just made a decision that we're going to do this. Let's create an environment that's fun, that's happy.

We are absolutely having a blast. For the time being, we're just sort of carrying the dream of our families and friends in Atlanta.
