We're just not hitting on all cylinders yet. Does it bother me? Certainly. I'd like to rush for 200 yards every game.

We tried to simplify some things through formations and so forth and let the players play. That comes from coach Sherman. He believes in that. He believes we have to be as simple as we can and let the players get out there and play. That's what it comes down to. When it's all said and done it comes down to players on the field.

You have to hang your hat on something. For the guys calling the plays, it's difficult. We're out here and you see things you're doing better in practice and then you get out here in a game and you say, 'Holy gosh, I thought this would be an OK play' and we end up going the other way. That's what we're trying to get a little bit better at.

He's just a good, solid, down-to-earth guy. It was a long shot, but he must have impressed. This is an opportunity of a lifetime for him.

The reason is what we just did here at the end of practice. If you take Kevin Barry and put him in at tackle, you're not moving it 65 yards downfield in a critical, critical situation.

It's a situation that we hoped would come a lot faster than it did and it didn't come along as fast as we thought it would come along. I think it's been new people in a new system, not being able to make the strides that they would have liked to make or I would have liked to see them make. That kind of sums it ups.

I know we have a lot of work to do and I know we need to improve. I say if we've taken a drastic step backward, which we have, we can also take a drastic step forward and bring it right back up. I'm not one who looks at it as an impossible situation because I don't think that it is.

If we had prepared for them, I'd be concerned. But we weren't prepared. We struggled some on pass protection. But we'll be damn good. You mark that down.

The Vikings played the entire game in the '34' other than in nickel or dime. It was well done. They caught Chicago off guard, and they should have. The score doesn't indicate it, but they did a real good job.

Teddy Cottrell is one of the original 3-4 guys in the league. He's a legitimate 3-4 guy. I don't know if that's the route he wants to go, but they played well.

This is our reasoning. We believe that if we lose the big package (U-71) we're in trouble. But Coach Sherman may come and say, 'Hey, we're going to change this.' But he has not talked to me ever about that.

If everything were perfect, that would have been nice. But we're not quite there yet. There are four guys in there, they're battling tooth and nail.

But that's fine. You need to be able to adjust. We didn't.

I'm sure they are, but they can't be. They've got to do their jobs. They can't be worrying about who else is in there.
