He's a valuable guy to have on your club. Whether he's playing, working with the other infielders, or on the bench, he brings a lot of energy. He's a special kid.

It's the first game, and there's a lot of games left. I don't foresee our offense being much of a problem.

I know right now the pitchers are fresh, but it looks like nerves. I think the adrenaline was kicking a little high.

That's unfortunate, because he's a solid guy. Somebody's going to have to step it up a little bit and fill that role.

We're not centering. We've been late on the fastballs and out in front of the off-speed pitches. We're stuck in the middle.

Right now it looks as if we're pressing. Guys are swinging at a lot of bad pitches. And when we're getting a pitch, we're not doing anything with it.

We definitely can't overcome any mistake, any bad pitch, anything.

Obviously we're not swinging the bats good right now. And when you don't swing the bats good, it takes away from the energy of the club.

I thought Davis threw pretty good. He pitched better than giving up three runs. In the five games we've played, we could have won four of them easily if we were scoring runs and swinging the bats.

The whole idea [behind the move] is to make him more versatile. The more positions you can play, the better the chances you have of sticking with a big-league club.

I hope so, because it won't be cold all year. We're definitely not hitting on all cylinders.
