He made it tough on himself by walking the leadoff hitter and gave up a hit at the wrong time. But he threw the ball awfully well tonight.

He didn't have command of anything. He got away with some hanging breaking balls early, but he didn't get away with the one he threw to Barajas. It wasn't a good night for Felix.

Carl will primarily be the DH, but will also play some in our outfield. Having him in my lineup gives us some of the left-handed sock and run production we were looking for.

I can go down the list and give you names of people that need to step it up, but I think we all know who those people are. But if they do, we feel like our runs scored total is going to increase dramatically.

We've been thinking of having Felix as the fifth starter, to start the season. That's the easiest place for us to monitor his work.

Talent like his only comes along every so often. We have to protect him.

If you ever want to find them, you'll find them in the (batting) cage with somebody. Their day starts early and ends late, and they can make a difference in the confidence that a hitter has in himself.

The Mariners and Major League Baseball should be complimented a great deal on undertaking something like this.

I've never seen a young kid with the potential that this kid has. If he stays healthy and keeps his head on straight, he has a chance to be as good as we've ever seen.

And then you could see him pull back, take a little more time on the mound and find a way to get the hitter out instead of just throwing harder. He learned from that experience There are 25-, 30-year-old pitchers who don't learn like that. The whole baseball world is in front of him if he wants it.

Jamie's the prime candidate, and beyond that you really don't necessarily want two left-handers going back-to-back. So, our No. 2 starter would probably be a right-hander.

That kind of piqued my interest in the Seahawks.
