You do everything you can to try to win football games, but I just think there comes a point where collectively as an organization you just work toward getting a winning product on the field and being accountable and honest about that product. When something's not right, you try to fix it.

That was my first big job and I know people down here. When I was a college coach for a number of years, I used to recruit Louisiana. I know the type of people that live here, good people. I find it to be a very attractive job.

I think when you go through something like this and I've shared this with the players, you become very introspective at times. You have some challenges you have to deal with as a coach and as a person, certainly, and you can't help but change when you go through adversity. You can't help but see things in a different light at times.

This is a hell of a lot better than Memphis. I mean come on. This whole area down here, to be able to walk around in short sleeve shirts, it's great and the kids are having a lot of fun.

Probably in the next month or so. I'm not that sure.

The things you don't have control over, you don't worry about. I have control over my attitude, my perception, how I do things, and you do the very best job you can. Other people have control over other things and you let them do their jobs.

Obviously every coach is measured by wins and losses, regardless of circumstances or situations, and we fell short in that area. I take coaching to heart as a profession. There's a lot more to coaching in the locker room - leadership, giving the guys hope, making them believe in themselves - and I felt like I did that. But we fell short on the field.

He and I have had conversations, and he's unsure at this point. We'll have another conversation. I told him I'll probably drop by to visit him and take a ride on his tractor at some point in the next month or so. But I don't have any immediate plans to do that because nothing is going to be decided in that conversation.

I'm disappointed I'm not the coach of the Green Bay Packers anymore. It's been difficult letting go of something you've embraced so passionately the last six years.
