Once I saw where he was going, ... I was just able to close in on him.

I hope we sent a message that Penn State is back. This is by far the best mind-set we've had since I've been here.

I came because of the tradition Penn State has, especially at linebacker, ... That was one of the main factors in my decision. I also liked the coaching staff and the people here. I just felt comfortable.

We were always right there. It's just that no one ever made that play to get us over the top.

We need to go to a big-time bowl game this year. We feel we have a couple guys now [Williams and King] that can help get us there.

Yeah, I've thought about it, but I've thought about a lot of different things. I love Penn State, and it would probably be a mistake for me to leave this great place early. I feel like I belong here.

It's been talked about a lot ... to really bring back Penn State to where things were before. That would really put us over the top.

He's obviously handling it as well as he could. He's taking his punishment like a man. He's doing everything the coaches have asked him to do.

One of the main things is we can't afford to have those really long drives. When it gets to third down, someone needs to make a big play so that we can get off the field.

We want to make them one dimensional, make them try to throw. I think a lot of us were really upset after the [first] game. We felt we could've done better. We realized it wasn't our best game, but it was a win.

It's one of the things we always talk about. It's really going to prove how good we are as a defense. We try to give that extra effort in situations like that.

I think we've improved in so many ways ? our ability to stop the run, the ability of the linebackers to drop back in pass coverage. [But] we're never going to be completely satisfied with the way we play.

Right now we're just taking it one game at a time. I haven't thought that far down the line.

We just have to continue to improve each week. Now that (Ohio State) is over and we have the win under our belts, we have to correct mistakes and move on to the next one.

We had a chance to have a conversation and just were able to talk about things — it was great. It was an honor just to speak to him. It was really enjoyable, and I'm just glad he had the time to talk to me.
