There are a lot of people that were disturbed with this week's energy numbers. There seems to be a lot of concern that the combination of the geopolitical issues, as well as refining issues, are enough reason not to abandon the long side of this market just yet.

Fear continues to grow with all the many risks to production around the globe.

There is a lot of incompetence in the government and in the oil companies. There is a clashing of heads.

We had a big spike early last week with crude at a record and the heat in Texas. It shows that even with this huge supply, people are still feeling pretty vulnerable about things like heat and hurricanes.

What the numbers are telling us, with refinery runs going up by a big margin, is that it seems refineries are turning the corner and the worst fears anticipated before the release of the data have been somewhat muted.

The Bush administration is going to try to do anything it can, even if it's a psychological gesture to the market.

The market is showing signs that we may have put in a near-term top in prices.

As oil tries to put in its seasonal high, it continues to be hit with all the worries on the geopolitical front.
