It speaks to the fact that cars are safer now than they have ever been, but it also speaks to the fact that we have to update our crash test programs, particularly for side impacts, which we are in the process of doing.

I believe that some in the advocacy community are overlooking that the most obvious way to reduce injuries is to buckle up. The vehicle can only do so much. At a certain point, people have to do their part.

We intend to keep the investigation open. We need to make sure the recall has addressed the total problem. That's one thing we need to make certain of.

It's the safe thing to do until they can bring in adequate supplies of replacement parts.
