It took me a while to get where I'm at, simply because I'm 6-10. I appreciate where I'm at. I realize I'm blessed.

The word 'potential' used to hang over me like a cloud.

Mechanically, I've struggled all year long with my arm angle, with my velocity and my effectiveness. That stems from poor mechanics. Tonight, I felt really comfortable on the mound.

I was pretty animated; tonight's game was probably the most energetic and emotional that I've had in a long time. It was just coming back here; Seattle, where the opportunity was given to me to throw every five days regardless of how I pitched. I knew I would get the opportunity to develop here. This is where it all kind of started.

In my younger days in Seattle, I used to get rattled pretty easily; those emotions would work against me. I think over the years, I've learned how to deal with that and have them work for me.

Tonight's game was the most emotional one I've had in a long time, ... I don't get worked up about who I'm up against -- I think it's just being here in Seattle. This was where I got the opportunity to throw every five days.

Tonight I really felt comfortable on the mound, ... I felt like everything was there. I was hitting my spots, and that's the biggest thing.

I'm still doing my thing at 41, I don't care what anyone tells me. It's mentally exhausting to be that focused every pitch now. It was easier at an earlier age ... It's the ingredient I've missed more than anything else.

His ability is endless.

I've pitched some good games this year where I haven't been that animated, that locked in,

That, and the biggest thing is I've missed my mechanics, too.

It was basically a matter of a feel thing. It wasn't getting work in. It was just to get the feel of what you want to accomplish, and I got that in 35 pitches.

It's been a while.

I may do it again one more time,
