It's frustrating. We're in the heat of the pennant race, and I feel good. To pitch like that but then have one inning, that's frustrating. I was cruising along the first three innings, then you saw what happened.

She was star-gazing. She was looking up to the sky, and her eyes had a blank look to them. They were empty.

It was devastating. It's hard for all of us who deal with them day in and day out. They're a big attraction for us. People have been asking where she's at, and it's hard to handle.

It's nice to know that with good mechanics, I can have a game like this. Now it's just a matter of going out and stringing them together.

It's been a long and frustrating year. But if that's been the problem, hopefully I'll continue to work hard on it and pitch the way I did today.

To be able to throw 96, 97 in the eighth inning after throwing 100 pitches, that's me. My velocity was back to where I'd like to have it, and the sharpness and velocity of my breaking ball was there as well throughout the whole game.

You get a little bit over the rubber, rushing a little bit, and then your arm seems to drop down. It's been a long process, a long year, a frustrating year. But that's been the problem and I'll continue to work on it.

By staying back I was able to get the arm angle I need for my fastball and my slider, and I haven't had it consistently. To be able to throw 96 and 97 in the eighth inning after throwing 100 pitches is ... is ... me.

At this point, being 41 years old, it's just a few little keys here and there. It's hard to get to know somebody; he doesn't know me, either. It's kind of hard to evaluate his input.

I love this kind of stuff. Obviously, it's starting to pan out to be the kind of year I was hoping for. Even in my best years, I've had some bad games. I'm extremely focused and realize I have one more start.

I think that's the big unknown,

Was the decline in the union movement due to a lousy message, or are they going to try a different tactic that will be more effective? It still remains to be seen as all this unfolds.

I love this stuff. At this point, it's not a marathon anymore, it's a sprint. We're running out of games, and every start is critical.
